But, exactly what does verification mean for an AI system? “Hardware platforms for AI and ML applications need to be verified twice, before and after the application is mapped,” says Sergio Marchese, technical marketing manager for OneSpin Solutions. “Moreover, the size of these chips or multi-chip modules is huge and may include hundreds of thousands of module and IP instances. Even a basic task such as verification of top-level connections to ensure correct integration of IP and subsystems may become intractable not only in simulation but also with traditional formal connectivity checking apps.”
